As I gear up for our second year of homeschooling, we’ve been getting a jump start on Joshua’s memory work for the new curriculum we’re using (Classical Conversations).  Part of that will be memorizing our 44 presidents.  We have an audio CD for the memory work and the last line of the presidents’ song is, “Barrack Obama, our 44th president, it’s for him we pray.”  So Joshua says, “Wow, Obama is our FORTY-FOURTH president?!”  So I said, “Yes, and even more importantly, he’s our first black president.”  I see Joshua’s look of confusion in the rear view mirror and he says, “Black?  Um, Mom, don’t you mean BROWN?”

 

Kids are so literal.
